Have you ever considered being an organ donor? Do you understand the impact of organ donation, whether you are the organ donor family, or the recipient?
It’s DonateLife week and today, we have the pleasure of being joined by three incredible people, each here to share their stories. The word amazing, doesn’t even cut it!
Julie Wilson’s 18 year old son, Brodie, was an organ donor he gave the gift of life to 5 people. Julie met 7 year old Alex, one of Brodie’s liver recipients, on 18 May.
Kevin Green is a kidney transplant recipient who also founded Donor and Recipients Group Australia, a space for donors families and transplant recipients to perhaps find each other if they so desire, however it also serves as a support network for patients and families across the journey.
Bruce McDowell runs Donor Families Australia, whose mission is to provide care and support to families who have donated their loved ones’ organs and tissue. To advocate on behalf of these families and give them a voice in all aspects of organ and tissue donation.
If you’re interested in more information on how to register as an organ donor or if you are a donor family or recipient wanting support and to connect with others in Australia, let us know and we will send you the links direct to your inbox.
